A half bottle wine

Both are used.  The second one is more common in American English.  For the British or Indian ear the second one may sound less idiomatic.

All the following are correct:

Half a kilo        A half kilo

Half an hour ago        A half hour ago

Half a century of independence        A half century of independence

Half a dozen eggs        A half dozen eggs
